Abstract
The vibronic absorption and emission spectra of 4-pentyl-4′-cyanobiphenyl in nonpolar, moderately polar and polar solvents, as well as Fourier Transform Infira Red absorption spectra of biphenyl, 4-ethyl-4′-cyanobiphenyl and 4-pentyl-4′-cyanobiphenyl in KBr were measured. In these two kinds of spectra, change of the band shape has been observed for flexible molecules.
