Abstract

The concept of molecular impurity ions as centers with charge transfer degrees of freedom interacting with order parameter of the phase transition, with local vibrations and with non-soft acoustical and optical phonons is developed. It is shown that molecular impurity ions (MIIs) can influence significantly on the ferroelectric and ferroelastic phase transitions (PT) due to direct interaction of their specific charge transfer degrees of freedom with order parameter. In the present work we predict a significant increase of the PT critical temperature with increasing of the MII concentration. Huge strengthening of piezoelectric effect is also predicted in this context. The MnO 4 -molecular impurity ions embedded into ferroelectric crystals like KDP are considered as the possible candidates for realization of these effects.
