Abstract
Object: Recent studies suggest that there are several molecular forms of plasma BNP in patients with heart failure. However, precise mechanism remains unknown. Methods: The atrial and ventricular tissue levels of BNP1-45(alpha-BNP), BNP1-95(gamma-BNP), ANP1-28(alpha-ANP), and ANP1-126(gamma-ANP) were determined by radioimmunoassay following extraction with a Sep-Pak C18 cartridge and gel-filtration in control and Dahl salt-sensitive heart failure rat. We also measured mRNA levels of ANP, BNP, corin and furin, processing enzyme of ANP and BNP, in atrial and ventricular tissue by real-time PCR analysis.
