Abstract

Abstract It has been shown that molecular crowding conditions greatly promote the invasion of a pair of pseudo-complementary peptide nucleic acid (pcPNA) to double-stranded DNA. Under molecular crowding conditions, double-duplex invasion complexes are spontaneously formed at 37 °C even in high-salt media, where the invasion otherwise never occurs. Strong potential of the pcPNA invasion for various intracellular applications is indicated.
