Abstract

In 25 genotypes of vetiver genotypes, 15 Inter Simple Sequence Repeats (ISSR) primers were examined for genetic diversity analysis. A total of15 ISSR markers were screened in which 11 showed amplification. Similarity between the genotypes ranged from 0.17–0.90. Mean of percentage polymorphism and polymorphic information content (PIC) was 79.4% and 0.36, respectively. Unweighted Pair Group Method of Arithmetic Mean (UPGMA) derived dendrogram was constructed from the ISSR marker study and discriminated the genotypes into different clusters. Our results suggested that DNA based markers of ISSR could be effectively used for genetic diversity evaluation in vetiver germplasm and for vetiver improvement breeding programme.
