Abstract

This study was conducted from 2013 to 2015 with aims to carry out the molecular characterization of the Infectious Bursal Disease Virus (IBDV) strains in 40 modern poultry farms of the Bamako District suburban areas in Mali. From a total of 12 suspected field samples (Bursa of Fabricius) tested by RT-PCR, six (06) have been positive (50%). The sequencing of the obtained strains allowed to establish that five (05) of them belong to very virulent variant and one was a classical IBDV strain similar to the classical vaccine strains. Complementary investigations involving more modern country poultry farms might be done for getting complete data on the molecular epidemiology of the IBDV strains.
