Abstract

To allow continued innovation in the development of test kits for the cereals, foods and beverage industries, Megazyme has established a Molecular Biology division within the company. The sole function of this division is to produce a range of novel enzymes allowing the development of new and improved test kits. In this presentation, we will describe a new procedure for the measurement of arabinoxylan and improvements in the method for the measurement of fructo-oligosaccharides. Also described will be methods for the quantitative determination of galactomannan, glucomannan, fructose, mannose and galactose. In the beverage area, methods for L-Malic acid, D-Malic acid, acetic acid and ethanol will be described. Up-to-date developments in methods for mannitol, sorbitol, artificial sweeteners and other compounds of interest will also be described.
