Abstract

In this review, some of the aspects concerning the molecular biology of pseudorabies virus (PrV), the causative agent of Aujeszky's disease, will be discussed. It will mainly focus on new findings concerning viral glycoproteins, factors determining PrV virulence, the problem of PrV latency and the developments regarding genetically engineered vaccines.
