Abstract
The endothelins (ET) are 21-amino-acid peptides produced by endothelial cells and many other tissues [1]. Three isoforms of ET have been characterized (ET-1, 2 and 3) which differ in two and five amino-acid residues, respectively [1–4]. In humans and other mammals three distinct genes encode the three isopeptides of the ET family [5].
