Abstract
Clinical sixty urine specimens were collected during the time from1/8/2020 to 30/10/2020 from UTI patients attending Baquba teaching hospital. Results of microscopic, cultural and biochemical examinations performed to identify these bacteria from urine specimens which were also confirmed by VITIC2, Klebsiella pneumonia had the highest frequency of occurrence followed by Proteus mirabilis and Acinitobacter bomanii. For all the 25 pathogenic isolates of Proteus mirabilis, susceptibility tests were performed against 13 antimicrobial agents, and the results showed those 25 isolates were resistant to Methicillin, Cefoxitin, Tetracycline & Rifampin followed by Ceftazidime, chloramphenicol & Cefepime, whereas the most sensitive antimicrobial agents to P. mirabilis were Imipenem, Amikacin, Genetamicin, Kanamycin, Ciprofluxacin and Levofluxacin. The PCR analysis of Proteus mirabilis genes among positive patients recorded ureC gene (90%), zapA (10%) and aac(6') (0%).
