Abstract

Abstract Mold level control system for continuous caster involves stick-slip friction in the hydraulic sliding gate, time-delay, non-linearity, and certain uncertain factors such as friction force variations between molten steel and the inner wall of mold. In this paper, nonlinear control technique was used to solve these complex control problems. The controller is then designed and implemented to the real continuous caster. Testing result shows that the new controller can decrease the fluctuant magnitude of the mold level and is superior to the previous Pill controller.
