Abstract

In high active sportswear, moisture management is of great concern due to high amount of sweat generation. Moisture management properties of plated knitted sportswear have been studied by taking various combinations of profiled polyester filament yarn on inner and outer side of fabric. Moisture management tester (MMT) was used to evaluate overall moisture management capacity and other various moisture management indices. Liquid moisture transmission normal to fabric plane and within fabric plane from an infinite liquid reservoir was investigated using M/K GATS. The effect of filament shape factor of inner and outer side of fabric on various moisture management properties has been evaluated. Analysis of variance (ANOVA) was used to check statistical significance of all effects. Fabric, having filament of higher shape factor in combination, observed to have better moisture management with larger wetting radius, higher one way transport capacity and quick absorption rate however the effect is more pronounced when it is placed in next to skin layer.
