Abstract

In modern Russian society, there is an opinion that all the problems related to the revolution of 1917 are connected exclusively with the Bolsheviks. In the article, the author tries to answer the question of what would have become of the Russian state if the Bolsheviks had not existed at all at the beginning of the 20tjl century, and draws the following conclusions. The Russian intelligentsia consciously and systematically prepared the overthrow of the monarchy in Russia, but did not know the real needs of the people, and therefore, after coming to power, met the opposition of the masses. Thus, the triumph of the intelligentsia led the country to a dead end and had to end with the collapse of Russia. Consequently, the Bolsheviks not only have nothing to do with the collapse of Russian statehood in 1917, but, on the contrary, are the only force that managed to save the country from a national catastrophe in the conditions of the revolution.
