Abstract

The performance and effective absorbing bandwidth (EAB) of electromagnetic wave (EMW) absorbers depend largely on electromagnetic impedance matching. Herein an efficient strategy for tuning impedance matching is reported. Porous Ni/Co@C nanocomposites with adjustable pore sizes were synthesized by varying calcination temperature. The obtained Ni/Co@C have EMW absorption capacity, adjusted impedance matching, and multiple scattering. Impedance matching is optimized to achieve super reflection loss (RL) of Ni/Co@C-600, while broaden the EBA of Ni/Co@C-650. Ni/Co@C-650 nanocomposite has the optimum RL of −66.3 dB with a thickness of 2.0 mm, and the EAB reaches 6.0 GHz at 2.3 mm thickness. Ni/Co@C-600 has an optimum RL of −71.9 dB at 8.9 GHz. This work provided a facile strategy for the design of porous nanocomposite with improving impedance matching.
