Abstract

Metabolic syndrome (MetS) is a cluster of multifactorial diseases with multiple risk factors and is closely linked to overweight and obesity. Rats treated with a high sucrose diet (32% sucrose in drinking-water, daily, for 30-week) develop MetS-like features that include an elevated blood pressure, insulin resistance and a prolonged cardiac action potential duration (APD).
