Abstract
This study examined the effects of short-term use of oral artesunate on testicular function in rats. Artesunate is an atermisinin derivative, now widely used to treat malaria. We also studied the modulatory effects of ascorbic acid (vitamin C) on any toxicity that might occur. We compared sperm parameters, serum testosterone, and the histology of the testis in 3 groups of Sprague Dawley rats treated with these agents for 7 days.
