The evolutionary aspects of immunoregulation and the immunotoxic effects of xenobiotics in species ranging from lumious to marine invertebrates were discussed at a recent meeting ★ ★ The meeting ‘Modulators of Immune Responses: the Evolutionary Trail’ was held at Breckenridge, USA, on 8–13 July 1995. , this report describes progress in our understanding of this fascinating field.
