Abstract

The cover picture illustrates how the optical properties of InP/ZnSe/ZnS quantum dots (QDs) can be modulated by controlling the thickness of the ZnSe intermediate shells. The circles in the top left, center, and bottom right represent QDs with thick, middle, and thin ZnSe shells, respectively. Upon excitation by blue light, they emit different colors and intensities depending on the number of photons entering and exiting the QDs. A model of the QD is presented in the top right, while a photograph of a dispersed solution of QDs emitting light is shown in the bottom left.
