Abstract

The present study investigated the effect of increasing acclimation temperatures on the acetylcholine esterase (AChE) activity in the brain and muscle of an endemic catfish Horabagrus brachysoma. Fish were acclimated to 26 (ambient), 31, 33 and 36°C for 30 days. The AChE activity significantly decreased (P<0.05) in fish acclimated at 36°C. The results indicated that, a temperature of 36°C was stressful to H. brachysoma, which may lead to behavioural changes in the fish
