Abstract

The effects of Mn 2+ incorporation added in liquid state during processing on the dielectric properties including temperature dependence of permittivity, dielectric loss, and DC bias characteristics of BaTiO 3-based X7R materials are discussed. Experiments reveal that a proper concentration of Mn 2+ can significantly improve the dielectric loss properties of the system, flatten the temperature–dependence curve though at some loss of the magnitude of permittivity. At the same time, the phenomenon of Mn 2+ existence improving DC bias properties of BaTiO 3-based X7R system is reported. The outstanding characteristic with stable or ascending value vs. imposing DC bias is very promising for practical use in high performance multilayer ceramic capacitors (MLCs).
