Abstract
This paper deals with current control of inverter using modulated model predictive control (MMPC). A traditional model predictive control (MPC) has wide bandwidth and fast dynamic characteristics, but switching state is limited and precise control is difficult. Proposed MMPC eliminates these disadvantages and takes only the advantages of MPC. MMPC shows good performance in applications that require fast dynamic characteristics such as sudden load changes or power failure/recovery. For validation of MMPC, 10kW Three-phase NPC inverter with an LC filter is used. MMPC control for inductor current is performed by simulation and experimental. As a result experiments for MMPC controller, there was almost no steady-state error, and the transient response is fast within 1ms.
