Abstract

Modern, technologically demanding and highly automated machines include a variety of control functions to enable efficient, safe, controllable and observable operation. Control functions are implemented on logic controller, which is a discrete event supervisory system for execution of parallel, synchronized and sequential control functions. To design a control logic of such a machine, appropriate specification and design methods have to be introduced. This paper introduces a matrix based modular logic controller design. The modular logic controller is specified and formalized using matrix representation of Petri Nets (PN). The matrix representation is supplemented with PN next-state function and discrete event controller equation which enables the simulation of the system and analysis of its performances before the target system is actually built. The target system in this paper is a cutting machine transport system. Using the proposed method, the properties of studied system are simulated and analyzed.
