Abstract

This paper describes computer graphics techniques for representation of complex electrical networks in the frame of power system analysis. A technique for representing the network as a multi-level modular structure is proposed. It is argued that with the use of this technique complex network drawing and editing can be facilitated, user interaction can be more focused and the system analysis algorithms can become more efficient by taking advantage of data modularity. An example of use of the technique for analysis of power station electrical auxiliary networks is described and the impact of this representation on the reliability analysis of the system is outlined.
