Abstract

This paper presents a diphase analytical modelling of salient pole synchronous machines aiming at studying 'accurately' the operating of these structures. Based on the Park transformation and the concept of forward and backward currents, the proposed model differs from usual approaches by the fact it introduces the e.m.f. into the different relations. This model is then used to study different motor and generator operating modes of salient pole synchronous machines and buried permanent magnet synchronous machines. The results confirm known practical results and also show a certain number of non trivial features.
