Abstract

The reaction of ruthenium carbonyl, Ru 3(CO) 12, with chiral diphosphane ligands of the type Ph 2PXPPh 2 results in the formation of the expected diphosphane derivatives Ru 3(CO) 10(μ 2-η 2-Ph 2PXPPh 2). In the case of R, R-DIOP (X  R, R-CH 2 CHOCMe 2 OC HCH 2) additional complexes viz. Ru 3(CO) 11(μ 1-η 1-Ph 2PXP-Ph 2), [Ru 3(CO) 11] 2 (μ 1-η 1 : μ 1-η 1-Ph 2PXPPh 2) and Ru 3(CO) 10(μ 1-η 2-Ph 2PXPPh 2) are formed as byproducts depending on the reaction conditions.
