Abstract

DuPont has developed a new range of economically-priced ethylene-acrylate copolymers, manufactured through tubular technology. This technology produces copolymers with a different molecular structure, yielding features and properties different from those made by the conventional high-pressure autoclave route. These differences point to new cost-effective ways for compounders and processors to modify engineering plastics and to prepare masterbatches. Dr. K Hausmann, Bernard Rioux and Coreen Y Lee of DuPont describe how the company has introduced the new resins as Elvaloy® AC ethylene-acrylate copolymers, which are available as methyl, ethyl and butyl acrylates.
