Abstract

In this paper, an improved Z-network dc-dc boost converter is proposed for applications that requires high voltage gain, such as photovoltaic (PV) power systems. Compared to conventional Z-source dc-dc converter, the proposed converter reduces the Z-source capacitor voltage stress considerably to perform the same voltage boost. The operation principle, parameters design and comparison with other converters are analyzed. Simulation results validates the effectiveness of theoretical analysis of proposed converter.
