Abstract

In this paper, a modified Wilkinson power divider is presented using open and shorted stubs for physical isolation of output ports. Open and shorted stubs in parallel are designed to resonate and provide infinite impedance at resonant frequency. They are inserted at output ports and isolation resistor of the Wilkinson power divider, which enables output ports to be physically separated. The optimum value of the isolation resistor is changed from that of the conventional Wilkinson power divider and is determined by the simulation. The modified Wilkinson power divider with open and shorted stubs was fabricated using a 5-mil thick Duroid 5880 substrate. It shows the measured insertion loss of 3.5 dB, return loss of 30.7 dB, and isolation of 15.5 dB at 2 GHz.
