Abstract

A technique of analysis is presented to determine operation rules for reservoirs. The concept of the standard operation rule is modified by use of time-dependent upper and lower storage bounds determined by a two-stage optimization process. The technique has been applied to an existing two-reservoir system in Thailand, producing hydroelectric power, irrigation water and low-flow augmentation for salinity control.
