Abstract

Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) is an attractive current technology to achieve high data rate in wireless communication systems. One of the main drawback associated with the OFDM is high peak to average power ratio (PAPR). It adversely affects the cost and complexity of high power amplifier (HPA), and other devices such as ADC and DAC in the OFDM system. Selective mapping (SLM) is an effective technique used to reduce PAPR without signal distortion. In order to reduce the high PAPR, SLM method improves the statistical characteristics of PAPR distribution using less correlated phase sequence set. Hence, the effectiveness of SLM is completely depends on the phase sequence set used to generate alternative OFDM signals. This paper, have been introduces a new phase sequence set based on decimal sequences and then proposed a modified SLM method to reduce high PAPR in OFDM systems. The simulation results shows that propose method PAPR performance is better than conventional SLM method.
