Abstract

Polymer composites developed using 2D layered fillers is of immense interest to researchers and industrialists owing to their exceptional properties and advanced potential applications. In this research work, we are reporting the synthesis of PVDF based composites with CTAB modified MoS2 via the solvent blending and roll milling route. The interaction between the modified MoS2 and PVDF resulted in the α to β phase transition in PVDF composite. XRD and FTIR analysis reveal the predominance of β phase in the composite compared to that of neat PVDF. DSC results clearly indicate the suppression of α phase with increasing β phase in the composite, accompanied by higher melting temperature in maximum filler concentration due to the nucleation effect of the filler in the composite. The morphology of the samples were analysed by FESEM. There is a progress in mechanical strength of the PVDF composite with increase in filler content.
