Abstract

A modified model for the photonic spin Hall effect when a Gaussian beam is reflected from a dielectric interface is derived. Compared with the former models that generally have great limitations (such as only being applicable to p- and s-polarization; or the approximate p-polarization; or invalid around the Brewster angle), the modified model we derived does not have these limitations, which can be suitable for arbitrary linear incident polarization and arbitrary angle of incidence. Furthermore, the modified model is verified by experiments and the experimental results are in good agreement with theoretical results.
