Abstract
Simple, rapid and sensitive tests for the detection of deoxyribonuclease activity are described. The modified methyl green-DNA agar and toluidine blue O-DNA agar tests were performed in simple glass slides using the respective dye (methyl green and toluidine blue O) as test reagent. Positive tests of methyl green-DNA agar produced a clear zone against green background and toluidine blue O-DNA agar produced a pink zone in a royal blue background in 2–6 h. Modified methods are sensitive to detect as little as 10–20 ng of DNase.
