Abstract

This paper presents an indoor positioning system (IPS) to locate a target using visible light communication (VLC) technology. There will be four distinct steps in the proposed algorithm. The first step is to use the clustering technique to separate the anchors into different groups. The second one is to compute the target position for each group utilizing weight least square (WLS) approach. The anchor selection (AS) method is used to select the group that are most accurate in their positioning accuracy using a metric known as the mean square error (MSE). At Final step, the position of this group is selected to re-positioning the target by making it as a starting point for the maximum likelihood (ML) approach. The simulation results reveal that the suggested algorithm exceeded the WLS and traditional ML approaches.
