Abstract

The thermodynamic limit of multiple exciton generation (MEG) solar cells have been have reviewed due to considering the mathematical expression of recombination process. The chemical potential (CP) of MEG should be lower than its bandgap energy so that we have analyzed that mathematical discrepancy of CP while with and without including Auger recombination (AR). Thus, we conclude the meaning of quantum yield in the recombination current in the detailed balance of MEG. Furthermore, after analyzing open circuit voltage (VOC) limit for MEG, theoretical results between with and without AR are nearly identical due to similar CP which only one radiative recombination process can be considerable under restrictions of VOC.
