Abstract

The trigonometric Maekawa triangles and Pierce quadrilaterals are regularly used to calculate the insertion loss (IL) of plane, semi-infinite and finite sound barriers. By applying these approximate solutions and basic mathematical geometrical tools (e.g., Rosenhouse, 2019, 2020, 2021), the author solves IL of more irregular barrier shapes of barriers like irregular zigzag, sinusoidal and other types of barriers. Solved examples are presented and the author's added proof for the optical inclination factor use in acoustic diffraction, that is given in appendix A.
