Abstract

The traditional circular patch has been modified leading to a butterfly structured patch. The proposed patch has been implemented on the substrate of 30 mm × 42 mm of the area with a height of 1.6 mm. The dielectric material FR4-epoxy has been used for the substrate. This antenna designed to be operated at a frequency of 15 GHz which is used for many applications including 5G communication. The maximum distance between the two arcs has been calculated from the design frequency. Emphasis has been given to the S11 (<10 GHz) plot from which the return loss and the resonant frequency have been determined giving a vibrant idea about the frequency of operation of proposed design. Design and simulation have been carried out by HFSS software and parameters like antenna gain, surface current distribution, antenna gain, directivity, etc., have been observed from the corresponding simulated results. Copper material is used for patch and the same material has been used for the ground plane.
