Abstract

AbstractBromination of various dihydropyrrolo[2,1‐a]isoquinolines have been reached in moderate to good yields by the use of alkylacyl bromides and dimethyl sulfoxide as brominating reagent. Other N‐containing heterocycles of interest such as pyrrolo[2,1‐a]isoquinoline and multisubstituted pyrroles can also be brominated successfully under the current reaction system. Distinct reactivities between alkylacyl and arylacyl bromides resulting in bromination and dicarbonylation respectively have been investigated.
