Abstract
The review of the works performed in the Institute of Physical Chemistry of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR is given. These works are concerned with the radiation-induced graft polymerization of polyolefins and polyvinylchloride by radical and ionic mechanisms using many monomers. Attention was paid to the obtaining of modified polymers with hemocompatible and fungicidal properties. It was established that significant influence of the relaxation transitions on the radiation-induced polymerization. The radiation-induced graft polymerization was studied at high dose rates. Dose rate intervals at which transition from radical to ionic mechanism takes place were determined.
