Abstract

Currently multimedia service such as VoD and realtime streaming is a dominant service in the Internet. The user of the multimedia service can use various devices such as desktop, laptop, and tablet. This means that the device which receives media data may belong to heterogeneous network. Since each network has own characteristics, delivering media data would better to consider the characteristics of each network. In order to support media transport over heterogeneous network, ISO/IEC JTC1/SC29/WG11 (MPEG) has been developing a standard called MPEG media transport (MMT). Peer-to-peer networking is an effective method for data delivery over network and it can mitigate the burden on server and increase the service quality in terms of transmission time. Thus MMT needs to support peer-to-peer networking in order to support a huge number of users. In this paper, we proposed the modification of MMT to support peer-to-peer networking.
