Abstract
The templating organoammonium cations of as-synthesized MCM-41 mesoporous silicas are ion-exchanged with [Co(en)3]3+or trans-[Co(en)2Cl2]+ in DMSO or ethanol neutral solutions, respectively. Pure electrostatic adsorption or complex grafting takes place at the inner MCM-41 surface depending on the nature of the complex. According to IR spectroscopy, most of the template can be removed, and the electrical balance provides a silanolato surface density of 0.55 ± 0.05 SiO-/nm2.
