Abstract

The authors have developed a simple extension adaptor to be used with the Allis Chalmers Polystyrene treatment cones which allow treatment of areas formerly not possible using cones supplied with medicine. An adaptor and blocking tray was also described that allows treatment of irregular field shapes and areas up to 30*30 cm at a longer treatment distance. Isodose charts and dosimetry showing the effect of overlapping fields for multiple areas were presented. The above field modifications have been used to treat mycosis fungoides, leukaemia cut is and widespread cutaneous spread of breast and prostate carcinoma.
