Abstract

The problems of the preparation and stabilization of suspensions of detonation nanodiamonds from dry powders (a production of secondary suspensions) have been considered. It has been suggested that the main reason for the stabilization of detonation nanodiamonds are hydrogen bonds. A surface modification of aggregates of detonation nanodiamonds with hydrophobic radicals has been used to destabilize large aggregates and form their highly dispersed suspensions in a polar medium. The hydrophobization of the surface of the initial aggregates has resulted both in their destruction and retention of hydrophilicity of their averaged surface.
