Abstract

A high sensitive electrochemical nanostructure sensor based on NiO/graphene oxide nanocomposite-ionic liquids (1-methyl-3-butylimidazolium bromide; 1M3BIB) modified carbon paste (NiO/GO/1M3BIB/CPE) electrode has been developed for trace analysis of sulfamethoxazole (SMTZ). NiO/GO was synthesized by co-precipitation method and characterized with different methods such as scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). The electrochemical response was found to be linearly proportional to SMTZ concentration in the range from 0.08–550μM with a regression coefficient of 0.9935 and a detection limit of 0.04μM. The novel sensor has been successfully applied for the assay of SMTZ in pharmaceutical and biological samples.
