Thus far at Cooper Medical School of Rowan University, she has conducted research on cervical artery dissections and stroke with Dr James Siegler.Mary grew up in Chicago, IL, and attended undergraduate studies at Northwestern University in Evanston, IL, where she studied neuroscience and took interest in art, particularly painting and glassblowing.About the technique: This piece was made with acrylic paint on canvas.About the art: This piece was inspired by my research on cervical artery dissection. While going through charts for my cervical artery dissection project, I spent a bit of time looking at computed tomography angiograms and magnetic resonance angiograms. I enjoyed looking at the complexities and nuances of the dissections on imaging. I was inspired to create a piece of art showing the differences in dissections. I had computed tomography angiography reference images for a variety of artery dissections, including double lumen, intimal flap, intramural hematoma, irregular surface, intraluminal thrombus, and pseudoaneurysm. This piece is a modernized pop art version of these dissections. Previous Back to top Next FiguresReferencesRelatedDetails March 2023Vol 3, Issue 2Article InformationMetrics © 2023 The Authors.
