Abstract

At the section of sinter grading and cooling of JSC “Ural steel” sinter plant, lamellar conveyors are used for transportation of return products. The conveyors have an open cylinder tooth gear, the working surface of which are quickly worn out because of abrasive particles of dust and sinter, which got into the gearing. It was proposed to substitute the lamellar conveyors drives, consisting of electric motor, coupling, cylinder two-step gear, open cylinder tooth gear, to the drives, consisting of motor-gear. The advantages of the motor-gear were demonstrated, as follows: they are compact, and have a high efficiency factor. The motor-gear has a block structure, which enables to replace it quickly in case of failure, therefore reducing the downtime of equipment. As a result of modernization of drives of CA-5 and CA-6 lamellar conveyors, their reliability will increase, the expenses for repair and technical maintenance will decrease resulting the sinter cost decreasing. The payback time of the drives modernization project of CA-5 and CA-6 lamellar conveyors will make two years.
