Abstract

Modern Problems in Ophthalmology, vol 5, is a collection of reports given at the fourth meeting of the Jules Gonin Club. The papers are written in English, German, and French with summary translations. The subject material is extremely interesting to all ophthalmologists and to retinal surgeons in particular. The topics discussed range from the history of ophthalmoscopy to the differential diagnosis of "dome-shaped" retinoschisis. Cryosurgery, photocoagulation, and new preserved sclera and fascia lata implant techniques are presented. The manuscripts are accurately written, usually contain new concepts, and render the book well worth reading.
