Abstract

The data of 2017, characterizing the modern gas-hydrothermal activity of the Berutarube volcano (Iturup Island, the Southern Kuriles) are presented. It is shown that currently the volcano has intensive solfataric and hydrothermal activity, concentrated within the three main sites near summit part of the edifice. The maximum temperature of steam-gas outlets is 96.6 °C, thermal spring – 80 °C. According to the chemical composition, the hydrotherms of Berutarube volcano are ultra-acid (pH 1.5), mineralized, chloride-sulfate waters with a complex cationic composition.
