Abstract

A few months ago I was sitting in my interview for the job of Editor, flicking through this Journal and reading headlines such as ‘Waterbirth debate’, ‘How long is too long in labour?’ and ‘Midwifery across the world’. I found myself smiling as I remembered a time when this Journal used to be delivered regularly to my house and was read not just by myself but also by at least three other student midwives. We had essays to write on subjects such as fetal monitoring or oral intake in labour and the BJM was always much in demand.
