Abstract
A general description of phenomena of vibration of phase conductors and earth wires appearing in overhead transmission lines (OL) and general approaches to their limitation are presented. Development of means for limiting vibrations on OL and some novel designs of vibration dampers created in foreign countries are described. An approach to the advancement of multi-resonance vibration dampers created under laboratory conditions in VNIIE is presented, which makes it possible to update a multi-resonance vibration damper using a synthesis of approaches used by designers of various companies. It is stressed that any novel multi-resonance design of vibration damper can be recommended for wide use on OL only after full-scale in situ testing of its efficiency.
